Developmental & Disability Services (DDS)

Pictured is Jessica A. Penchard, DDS VP Public Relations & Development presenting a Certificate of Appreciation to Bray Brunkhurst and the Bemis Foundation for their Outstanding Service to People With Disabilities.

Since 1961, DDS has been providing free services to people in Lebanon County with disabilities and learning delays.  The Milprint-Lebanon facility requested funds for DDS to supplement the training and education of children with developmental delays and persons with disabilities.  Children attending the specialized pre-school program at DDS may receive one or a combination of speech, physical and occupational therapies.  DDS believes in providing services to all family members and achieves this through a team approach working with other service providers.  Parents and their children are given support and encouragement as well as the confidence they need to help their child reach maximum potential.  BCF has continued to support this organization since 2005 because of the help it has provided many children in the Lebanon Valley area, including children of Bemis employees.

Randall Court Senior Housing was established in 1983 and is a partner of the Outagamie County Housing Authority.  This housing facility provides an affordable home for those in the community who are primarily single, elderly, and handicapped.  It also provides a food service, transportation, and a nurse advocate program on site for those residents who require it.  BCF provided capital improvement funds for replacement of the original roof.

Habitat for Humanity

Accepting a BCF check from Patrick Kelly, Omaha Plant Manager, is Carla Patton a representative of the Omaha Habitat for Humanity.

The Omaha Habitat for Humanity requested funds from BCF to purchase some of the necessary construction materials for a four bedroom, 1200 sq. ft. house to be built in the North Omaha area where the average income for resident families is $23,000.  This Habitat represents a special partnership with the Boy Scouts Venturing Program in which Omaha youth will help with the entire Habitat process, from architecture, engineering and construction to sponsor recruitment and financing.

BCF also supported the Habitat for Humanity of Oshkosh, Inc.  A photo taken on the job site shows the almost completed house of homeowner, Kris Frohrib, a single mom of five children and an at-home day care provider.
