Bemis Announces $210,000 in Donations to Help Feed and House Families

NEENAH, Wisconsin, December 22, 2016 - Bemis Company, Inc. announced $210,000 in gifts to support the needs of individuals facing homelessness and food security issues in all communities where the company has a location in the U.S. Thirty-four nonprofit organizations that serve residents of these communities received gifts to support those basic needs, one of the main focuses of giving for Bemis.

“We believe it's important to support our communities with these donations to help families and individuals stabilize their housing and food situations so they can move forward toward self-sustainability,” said Tim Fliss, vice president of human resources and chair of the Bemis Foundation. Bemis donates over $2.6 million annually to causes including basic needs, health and wellness, K-12 education, arts and culture, and STEM (science, technology, engineering and math) education initiatives.

Employees help to guide Bemis giving through participation in a dollar-for-dollar gift matching program, and the “Dollars for Doers Program,” which provides a monetary donation to a nonprofit or school where an employee volunteers their time.

“Bemis employees are very generous with their time and money,” Fliss said. “Through their gifts and volunteerism, it is clear that they recognize and value the needs being met through homeless shelters and food pantries across all of our communities in the U.S. We are proud to enhance their support with these end of year donations.”
