Oshkosh, Wisconsin - January 25, 2007 - Consumer products manufacturers now have an exciting option to replace tired, old blister pack packaging thanks to new IntegraShield films from Curwood, Inc. IntegraShield films offer high-performance fusion-seal lidding technology compatible with various grades of PET (RPET, APET, PETG, etc.) materials for high-end thermoformed blisters. With a premium appearance and excellent tamper resistance, IntegraShield films are ideal for replacing paperboard in blister packs for high-value household, office and personal-care goods like electronic accessories, ink cartridges or razors.

New IntegraShield® films from Curwood replace paperboard in high-value blister packs to help consumer products companies make a premium impression while maintaining product security.

IntegraShield films are heat-sealable on existing equipment for both in-line FFS and pre-made blister pack operations. Performance benefits compared to paperboard include:

  • Aesthetics: IntegraShield films allow excellent product visibility; high-impact, reverse-printed graphics; attention-getting material options like metallized or holographic materials; and a stand-out package "feel."
  • Tamper Resistance: The film's aggressive, hermetic, weld-seal technology combines with high-strength materials to discourage pilferage. Plus, the clear package made with non-metallized film allows flexibility in placing electronic article surveillance (EAS) devices for easiest reading.
  • Productivity: With a wide operating window, IntegraShield films offer reliable seals under varying heat and speed conditions to minimize downtime for adjustments.
  • Environmental Impact: IntegraShield films weigh in at a fraction of paperboard, creating an opportunity for meaningful source reduction as well as savings on freight costs.

"Our customers have been asking for a premium film option to update their blister packaging," says Jon Pietsch, Market Manager at Curwood. "We see it as an area for significant growth as more and more consumer products manufacturers realize the benefits inherent with the IntegraShield technology."

IntegraShield films are part of Curwood's complete line of blister pack lidstock materials. Other materials in the offering include EZ Peel® and EZ Peel®/Reseal films, both value-added products engineered for consumer convenience.
