Now medical device packagers can get a peelable high-performance top web that far surpasses traditional HDPE films for high-speed thermoform, fill and seal applications. New HP-EZ Peel™ film from Perfecseal is a proprietary seven-layer structure that answers the medical device industry’s need for improved materials performance at a lower cost.

As the industry’s first fully coextruded, nylon-core top web system, HP-EZ Peel™ offers critical properties including consistent peel performance, mechanical strength and processing efficiencies. Yet the specially engineered structure provides significant price/value advantages over conventional coated materials.

Superior Packaging Attributes Gained Through Material Science

The special material’s attributes are achieved though science-based advances, including resin formulation and proprietary layer distribution. The film features a unique seven-layer coextrusion of modified HDPE, nylon and the well-established EZ Peel® sealant technology. Its unique combination of characteristics provides the opportunity to realize quantifiable packaging improvements.

HP-EZ Peel™ film’s exterior layer features clean white HDPE, engineered to provide a matte, paper-like finish that enhances printability. The surface is ideal for device companies with in-line flexo or thermo printing units. The matte finish also minimizes distractions in the surgical setting by reducing gloss and noise.

The film’s core layer of nylon contributes excellent puncture, abrasion, flex crack and tear resistance, providing mechanical advantages that allow cost reduction through downgauging.

Consistent seal integrity, predictable peel characteristics and clean opening are provided through Perfecseal’s EZ Peel® sealant layer, a trusted technology used in the medical device industry for more than a decade.

Precise layer distribution of the coextruded web maximizes tensile strength, stiffness and heat resistance. The result is a trouble-free film that reduces waste, optimizes efficiency and performs reliably across a wide processing range.
