The Marketing Communications Dept. is proud to announce that Curwood is the winner of two Silver Awards from the Flexible Packaging Association (FPA). The winning packages are as follows:

Sara Lee Single Occasions (TM)

Sara Lee Single Occasions™ was recognized in the Packaging Excellence category. This outstanding package represents a significantly different way of packaging sliced lunchmeats and cheeses. By laminating parchment paper and combining it with a flexible non-forming film, Sara Lee distinguishes their product in a whole new way on retail shelves. The product looks as if it were freshly sliced by the butcher and wrapped in butcher’s paper. It is also easy to open due to the incorporation of Curwood's patented EZ Peel® system.

Pillsbury R Easy Open Cookie Dough Chub

General Mills stood out in the Technical Innovation category with the Pillsbury® Easy Open Cookie Dough Chub. This package represents the first easy open chub style package in the marketplace. Prior to its introduction, the only way to access the cookie dough was to cut off the metal clips on either end or split open the top of the chub with a sharp utensil. Thanks to an innovative new opening system from Curwood, Inc., the package can now be opened by simply pulling apart the lap seals. The result is a cost-effective, consumer friendly chub package with eye-appealing graphics.

Awards were presented in a ceremony held on Wednesday, March 8th during the 2006 FPA Annual Meeting.
