At Bemis, we believe that the interests of business, the environment and our global community must be addressed in balance to develop meaningful and effective sustainable solutions. We approach sustainability through a triple focus, incorporating Environmental, Economic and Social considerations.
Environmental
We are committed to reducing Bemis’s impact on the planet and conserving our resources. Areas of focus include helping stakeholders to use less packaging overall; developing effective new sustainable materials; reducing waste in the food distribution chain through enhanced protective packaging; minimizing manufacturing waste; and producing materials efficiently through responsible use of energy and resources.
Economic
Since its inception over 150 years ago, Bemis has operated with a strong sense of purpose, responsibility, and adaptability. This model of economic sustainability requires that we continuously adapt to match the interests of our business, society, and the environment, both in the short and long term. We evolved from a small manufacturer of cotton bags to a global leader in flexible packaging and pressure sensitive materials. This has allowed us to contribute to the economic stability of our communities, deliver value to stakeholders, and invest in the ongoing development of more sustainable, high-performance packaging technologies.
Social
We seek to improve the lives of people who interact with Bemis and our products, ensuring packaging safety; protecting employee and environmental safety; and giving back to our communities and industry.
